Two Pendergrass men were killed Thursday night in a head-on wreck on Holly Springs Road in Jackson County.

Both of the drivers, Brett Johnson, 36, and Alan Reed, 27, were killed in the wreck. Reed was reportedly on the wrong side of the road when he collided head-on with the vehicle driven by Johnson. Both men were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated by rescue units from Plainview and North Jackson fire departments and by Jackson County EMS personnel.

One patient was airlifted to Gwinnett Medical Center and the other transported to Northeast Medical Center. Both died at the hospital.

There were no other people in the vehicles at the time of the wreck.

A deadly multi-vehicle accident in Jackson County on Interstate 85 under the Dry Pond Road bridge on Friday morning was cleared up around noon and I-85 reopened.

The Georgia State Patrol confirmed at least one fatality in the southbound wreck, but didn’t have additional details available on the victim.

However, the Georgia Department of Transportation said the accident started from an earlier wreck on I-85 three miles south of the Dry Pond Road (Ga. Hwy. 82) exit. [Full Story »] 

A well-known Jefferson couple was killed in a Banks county wreck Friday on Hwy. 63 at Hwy. 51. Killed were Tony and Ann Ianuario, Jefferson. The wreck reportedly involved a tractor trailer and a SUV, but no official details were available Saturday about the cause of the wreck. [Full Story »]

Three people were injured Monday morning when their car crashed into the back of a firetruck.

The incident happened about 8 a.m. on the Damon Gause Bypass at the Hwy. 82 intersection in Arcade. A fire truck was responding to a call at the time of the incident.

Three people in the car were transported to area hospitals.
