The Jefferson City Council decided Monday night to study further a proposal to locate cameras at some red lights in town. Councilman Roy Plott said he has some reservations about whether the move would cause more wrecks than it stops.

Former Jefferson Police Captian Dennis L. Thomas of Jefferson, was indicted by a federal grand jury Friday on charges of possession of a firearm while being a drug user and possession of a hand grenade. Thomas was arraigned Friday before United States Magistrate Judge Susan S. Cole in Gainesville. He remains detained without bond. [Full Story »]

Three people were injured Monday morning when their car crashed into the back of a firetruck.

The incident happened about 8 a.m. on the Damon Gause Bypass at the Hwy. 82 intersection in Arcade. A fire truck was responding to a call at the time of the incident.

Three people in the car were transported to area hospitals.
