Woman reports neighbors for feeding her horses
Wednesday, September 18. 2013
A woman reported her neighbors to law enforcement for feeding and petting her horses after she asked them not to, according to a Jackson County Sheriff's Office incident report. The complainant, who lives on Commerce Road in Jefferson, said her neighbors started feeding fruits, hay and even grass clippings to the horses, which are all not part of the horses diet, at the beginning of this year. One of the horses developed colic that almost killed it, the woman said.
At one point the neighbors asked the complainant if she wanted to put the horses out of the pasture and into the yard, but she told them no, and asked them to leave the horses alone. Later that day, she came home and the horses had been let out of the pasture and into the yard, she said. The complainant said she has put up video cameras and has footage of these events.
On the day of the report, the woman said she asked the neighbors again to leave the horses alone and one of the neighbors called her a derogatory name and told her not to tell her what to do. The woman said she would have to press charges to keep her horses from getting colic again and possibly dying from it. She was advised to continue using the cameras and keep the footage.
The deputy then spoke to the neighbor, who reported that the complainant is a "crazy lady."
