The Jackson County School System will use two planned student holidays as make-up days for the recent snow days.
The district will use a teacher planning day — Friday, March 13 — and the first day of Spring Break — Monday, April 6 — as the snow make-up days.
The school system canceled classes on March 2-3, following a winter storm that dumped at least five inches of snow in parts of Jackson County.
The City of Jefferson School System will make up its one snow day on March 13, which was previously a teacher planning day.

I know the schools have to reschedule days lost due to snow days, but the first day of spring break? Does the Jackson County school system have a clue as to how this is going to mess up people's vacations? Vacations that are already paid for? With this economy, people that have already paid for their vacations out of town may lose deposits, or have to cancel an entire week of vacation because the Jackson County school board didn't have the sense to schedule it on another day. I feel terrible for the teachers who are being forced to work that day. They have families, too. This one day of rescheduling can ruin an entire week's vacation for hundreds of families in Jackson County. I wonder how many Jackson County officials will be off the ENTIRE week.

Isn't March 13th a Saturday, don't you mean March 12 & April 6 is a Tuesday. I think you are looking at the wrong year calander.

If you'll notice, I entered my comment over a year ago. Sorry for any confusion you might have had.
