In what looks to be the largest single industrial investment in Jackson County's history, Toyota Industries Corp. plans to build a manufacturing plant next to its current compressor plant in Pendergrass. The deal will be a $350 million investment and create 320 new jobs.

The facility will make parts used in its compressors that the company currently imports. The new building will be 600,000 sq. ft.

Camie Wilkes Thomas will be seeking re-election to her third term as clerk of superior court of Jackson County. Thomas also serves as clerk of state and juvenile courts and clerk to the jury commissioners of Jackson County.

Thomas, who has been clerk of superior court since 2005, was employed in the clerk’s office for six years before being elected as Jackson County clerk of courts. Thomas ran unopposed for her second term as clerk of superior court of Jackson County.
