THIEVES STOLE 25 yards of copper tubing from Gum Springs Church last week.
The copper tubing was taken from the 250-gallon propane tank along the back wall into the heater under the church.
In a related incident, someone attempted to steal copper wire from a Plainview Road, Maysville, residence. The homeowner said when he arrived at the residence he saw a man run through the back yard.
Inside the home, he found broken windows, a damaged ceiling fan and copper wire piled in the floor that had been pulled from the wall.
Among the incidents reported to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office last week included the following:
•a Jefferson man said he was delivering pizza in the Traditions of Braselton and a black SUV sideswiped his vehicle and didn’t stop.
•a Rabbit Run, Nicholson woman, said her husband was walking their dog when an animal attacked it and killed it. She said her husband is blind and didn’t know what animal killed the dog.
•a deputy was called to assist with an accident on Hwy. 129 at Sosebee Road. When the wrecked vehicle was being loaded onto the tow truck, it rolled back and hit the deputy’s patrol car.
