Jackson EMC currently has 154 power outages affecting nearly 19,000 customers as a result of the severe thunderstorm that began moving through the company’s service area around 5:30 Saturday.
Restoration efforts on these outages have just begun and will continue through the evening.
Hardest hit was Jackson County where 9,589 customers are without power. These homes are primarily in the Braselton, Jefferson, Commerce and South Tallassee Road areas of the county.
Jackson EMC also has 9,589 customers in Gwinnett County and 5,875 in Hall County without power.
“Crews are being dispatched and service will be restored as soon as possible,” Jackson EMC spokesman Bonnie Jones said.
