An Athens man has been charged in connection with several hit and run accidents on Hwy. 441.
The Jackson County 911 department received several reports of hit and run accidents on Hwy. 441 in reference to a motorist that struck several vehicles and left the scene. One driver was transported to a local hospital.
The Georgia State Patrol, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Athens-Clarke County Police Department were involved in the investigation. As a result, the Georgia State Patrol arrested Matthew Kerry Gossett, 53, Athens, on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, failure to maintain a lane, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, following too closely and no proof of insurance.
