No new arrests or charges have been made in regards to the school bomb threats that have occurred in Jackson County over the past few weeks.
Sheriff Janis Mangum on Monday said her department is still investigating the East Jackson Middle School and Jackson County High School incidents.
“We are still continuing the investigation,” Mangum said.
Mangum directed questions to the school system about whether a 15-year-old East Jackson High School female student and an 11-year-old West Jackson Middle School male student who are both charged in similar incidents are facing expulsion.
The two students — who have each been charged with one count of felony terroristic threats and one count of school disruption, which is a misdemeanor — were arrested on Friday, May 2.
The county high and middle schools have been on level one lockdown since Wednesday, May 14, and the elementary schools have been on a “soft lockdown.”
