In a touching story that smacks of a “Lassie” episode, local firefighters rescued a puppy this week from a 30-foot well off Hwy. 60 in Hoschton.
Fifteen-year-old Daniel Myalik was home early from Jackson County Comprehensive High School on Monday with a stomach bug when he went outside to feed the dogs and couldn’t find little Buddy. Buddy’s mother led Daniel across Walnut Road to an abandoned well on some neighboring property until he could hear Buddy’s yelps. Daniel remained calm and called 911. That was around 11:30 a.m.
