A woman called 911 to report that she was driving down Ebeneezer Church Road, Jefferson, when she encountered a “thin dog,” a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office incident report states. The woman stopped to locate the dog’s owner and also realized a small child was home alone.
A deputy checking out the situation spoke to a woman who lived across the street from the house. That woman claimed the dog was hers. She said she adopted the dog a week prior from a friend and was in the process of returning it to good health.
She also said the child across the street is 13 and not in any danger. She said it was not unusual for him to be home alone and his mother calls her to let her know if he is so she can keep an eye on him.
