A woman told police that her three-year-old son was attacked by a pony at Pendergrass Flea Market last week, according to a Jefferson Police Department incident report.
After paying $1 for her son to enter the zoo, he began petting a dark brown pony on the neck. Without warning, the pony turned around and started kicking the boy with both back feet.
The woman said she picked her son up to get him away from the pony. There were no adults around working at the zoo to help her. She said two small Hispanic females said that they were sorry for the incident.
The juvenile had marks on his face that were turning dark. The woman told police she was taking him to a doctor.
An officer told the woman to contact the flea market after talking to the doctor and that the police would follow up with animal control.

The Pendergrass Flea Market should have known better and should be held responsible? NOT for what the pony did Because NO ONE can predict what an animal will do BUT because there were NO ADULTS running this petting zoo or what ever they want to call it? AND I wouldn't just sue the so called zoo I would sue the Flea Market and if they say the zoo wasn't part of the Flea Market THEY(the flea market) should have had stricter rules in place that anyone running a booth or ANY event had to be over 18?
The Childs Parent is responsible for the injury to the child. It is today's mentality to blame someone else but in reality we are responsible for our safety and our Families Safety. What was a child doing close enough to a horse to be injured? When you go by a pasture and you see horses would you go and stand behind one? Horses are animals after all. Maybe I'm reading the article wrong but from what I gather I would think the parent would not allow a child near and animal without and attendant there. If someone seen this incident or knows more than what is reported please post the information.
I am a mother-grandmother and I would not let a little three year old into a petting pen alone. I would dare say, six years is still a young age. I hate it for the little fella but the pony too. You do not know who could have harrassed it before they got to the pen that day. Just a poor choice for all concerned and sadly the pony will be held as villian.
Parents should watch there kids and stop acting like their own self and things like this would not happen, this was no ones fault but the parents of this kid, shame on them for letting this happen to their own kid, some people do not need kids and DFACS let these people keep there kids, something wrong with the whole world.
