Early voting starts Monday and goes through Nov. 1 for town elections, including the mayor’s race in Jefferson and alcohol sales in Nicholson and Pendergrass. It is incorrectly listed in this week’s issue of The Jackson Herald that early voting starts on Oct. 26.
Early voting will be held at the Jackson County Administrative Building in Jefferson.
In the Jefferson mayor’s race, incumbent city councilman Roy Plott and former police chief Darren Glenn will face off. Also on the ballot in Jefferson will be two council seats and one board of eduction race. In the District 4 city council race, incumbent Kathy DuBose and Malcolm Gramley will be on the ballot.
In the District 5 city council race, Don Kupis and Doug Turco qualified to fill the seat held by Roy Plott, who resigned to run for mayor. After qualifying ended, Stan Beeco announced his intentions to be a “certified write-in candidate.”
