Three of four high schools in Jackson County were in the top one-third of state schools on the SAT, according to results released last week.
Jefferson High School led the local results with a composite score of 1,531. It was one of 59 state high schools that finished above the 1,500 mark this year, ranking 53rd in the state out of 410 high schools reporting results. It also topped the national average of 1,498 for the year. Still, the 2013 JHS results were lower than in 2012 when the school had a composite score of 1,564.
Commerce High School ranked 80th in the state with a composite score of 1,476. That was up from 1,391 in 2012.
Jackson County Comprehensive High School ranked 125th in the state with a score of 1,427. JCCHS dropped 30 points from 2012 when it had a composite score of 1,457.
East Jackson Comprehensive High School fell in the middle of state results and at the bottom of local result at 175th in the state with a score of 1,386. That was the same score it had in 2012.
Both JCCHS and EJCHS were below the state average score of 1,452.
