Laura sits on the carport of her home, just a few feet from the house where she watched in horror as her neighbor killed his wife and teenage son. Her voice occasionally cracks as she recalls the “worst day of her life.”
Laura recently told her chilling story of the day she witnessed Marty Reeves shoot his wife and son and then hold her hostage until she was able to escape with her 1-year-old daughter.
Reeves was arrested June 5 for the murders of his family. He was indicted on Aug. 12 by a Jackson County Grand Jury on 15 counts, including two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of felony murder, four counts of false imprisonment, four counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and one count of obstructing or hindering persons making emergency telephone calls. His arraignment is set for Sept. 16 and he will likely enter a not guilty plea and use an insanity defense.
