To have one child in need of a heart transplant in a small community is uncommon; to have two in the same area is extremely rare. Both six-year-old Katie Testement and three-year- old Braden Knebel live in Jefferson, and both are in need of a heart replacement. Katie has Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome; the right side of her heart is underdeveloped. Braden has a restrictive cardiomyopathy which keeps his heart from filling and emptying properly.
