Parents and participants in the girls track program at Jackson County Comprehensive High School asked the board of education last week to fix the high school’s deteriorating track. Parent Lisa Stovall spoke to the Jackson County Board of Education and requested that system leaders fix the track, which she said had caused numerous injuries to students because of its poor condition.
“The track is in a state of disrepair now,” she said.
She said the school can’t have any home track meets because of the poor condition of the track and other related venues at the school. In addition, she said the 20-year-old track had caused numerous injuries, including shin splints, hip problems and injuries due to falls because of its condition. Some runners had to drop out of the program due to injuries, she said.
I'm sorry, when would you like it done?
You are clearly familiar with how JC works! Hit the nail on the head!
Why don't you look into why East Jackson Middle School has
What appears to be 5 instructional coaches? How can we have
That many at one school, yet we are giving teachers
Furlough days?! Someone needs to answer why this
Is going on!!
Thanks.
"East Jackson Middle School enrollment has increased as a result of the school consolidations. There were two intervention teachers at KBMS and two at EJMS. These positions are funded through Title I federal funds. Title I Funds are required to be supplemental in nature and can not supplant QBE/state funding. Additionally, EJMS will have approximately 800 students in grades 6-8 with only 1 assistant principal. There will be an instructional lead teacher to assist with instructional leadership responsibilities. This was intentionally decided instead of an additional assistant principal which is what our other schools of 800 or more presently have. Jackson County Schools continues to focus on supporting quality classroom instruction."
then why not get the county to answer how you
are going to operate EJMS every morning with
an over capacity amount of kids inside the facility
at the beginning of the day, and also why the kids
will first arrive at the middle school and then have to
get on buses and travel a half mile to the high school.
This will be sacrificing valuable instructional time.
As well this over capacity time in the mornings
will be unsafe. Does the BOE not want safety first?
I have attempted to contact EJMS administration as well
and I cannot get a reply of any type.
Maybe the Jackson Herald could get someone
to address these concerns as well.
I am fearful of my children's safety as well as the entire
population of students and teachers. Safety should
be number one.
