A 15-year-old female was arrested last week at a Turner Drive residence after she allegedly stabbed her stepfather in the hand with a butcher knife because he pawned her laptop and gaming system. The stepfather was bleeding from his hand when police arrived.
According to a Jefferson Police Department incident report, the complainant (the stepfather) told police the stabbing occurred after he confronted the juvenile for throwing his shoes down the stairs, where he was forced to push her back because she was in his face.
The girl then grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen and came back upstairs with the knife in her hand, walking towards him and moving the knife in a stabbing motion, he said. His hand was cut when he grabbed the knife and she jerked it backwards. He said she then continued to come at him with the knife and he called 911 because he feared for his life.
The girls’ mother and younger brother gave statements to police that coincided with the stepfather’s story.
The girl also told a similar story, but added that the stepfather punched her in the face. She was taken to RYDC in Gainesville and charged with felony aggravated assault.
