The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office made six arrests after responding to a cruelty to animals call Sunday, June 24, in Maysville.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Hickory Way address in Maysville to a complaint of cruelty to animals. Upon arrival, deputies witnessed several people standing around a homemade fence with chicken coops all around the property. Several persons fled the scene. Deputies were able to detain six people. Further investigation revealed several dead roosters, spurs and other items related to “chicken fighting.”
Among those arrested were: David Castro 31, Valentin Castro 42, Ramiro Delgado 42, Feliciano Gaona 37, Aracely Olea 38, and Tomas Rodrigues 31. They were charged with obstruction and cruelty to animals. Other charges are also pending.
