Jefferson police officers helped talk a man down from a bridge who was considering jumping off into traffic last week. According to a Jefferson Police Department incident report, the male, who officers found on the side of Interstate 85, told them he was “unemployed, had nowhere to live and was just down on his luck.”
After helping the man off the bridge, the officers took him to a nearby parking lot where they talked with him. When they discovered he was warrant-free and not on probation, the officers used their own money to feed him and set him up in a hotel room for two nights while he looked for employment.
