Michael Gosnell, Jackson County’s assistant EMS director, was fired Monday for improper use of his county issued computer and cell phone. Gosnell was earlier placed on administrative leave with pay after an investigation by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office into possible Internet crimes against children.
County manager Kevin Poe reported that Gosnell was fired on Monday for “carelessness, negligent or improper use of county time, property or equipment.”
“Specifically, he used a county computer and cell phone for inappropriate use, including non-professional communications with an individual and sending or posting sexually suggestive or explicit messages.”
