A woman was issued a temporary criminal trespass warning at Bell’s grocery store after she took a price tag from a package of baby back ribs and stuck it on a package of boneless pork loin that was priced almost seven dollars higher, according to a Jefferson Police Department incident report.
The employee who notified police said that the woman was very cooperative and admitted to everything. After talking to the manager, it was decided that they did not want to press charges, however, they requested that she come back in the store another day to talk to a manager in person to discuss the criminal trespass warning. The employee added that the store wanted to review video footage of the store for other possible events.
OK. I'M CONFUSED? What in the world is a criminal trespass WARNING? I've heard of criminal trespass warrants AND I've heard of WARNINGS that Mr. Police man gives you BUT never this? What did they do tell her IF she EVER did this again they would have her cited for criminal trespass?
Pork done got high? I can't believe that pork loin was higher than Baby back ribs?
A criminal trespass warning is given when there has been no actual physical/monetary damage but the owner/manager/or other rightful occupant of private property wishes someone who is not a rightful occupant to leave and not return. These are verbal warnings documented by the Sheriff's Office/Police Depts at the request of the owners/managers/rightful occupants. Should the person return, they can then be arrested for Criminal Trespass.
Personally I feel the store was more than lienant and wish they would start pressing charges more often for this. Im tired of people getting away with criminal mischief, attempted robbery (which in my opinion is what this was). It doesnt matter to me what the price of either meat was, its not the right of anyone to take it upon themselves to change it as if they are due that price change above everyone else. They should be made examples of for others not to be so stupid as to follow suit and think its so funny to get away with.
