The Jefferson Lady Dragons volleyball team wrapped up their regular season area matches with a 4-4 record last week with victories over Tallulah Falls and East Jackson last week, snapping a four game losing streak.
The Lady Dragons were scheduled to travel to Monroe Area Tuesday to face the Lady Hurricanes, along with Salem. Results of those matches were not available at press time. Check www.mainstreetnewssports.com for scores and updates throughout the week.
Now the team can enjoy a breather before hitting the court again next Tuesday, as they play host to Apalachee and Monroe area in Jefferson. Matches are scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m.
The Lady Dragons started off last week on a downer, extending a two-game losing streak to four games with losses to Apalachee and Winder-Barrow. Against Apalachee, Jefferson lost 0-2 in sets of 19-25 and 25-27.
Winder-Barrow also won 0-2, with sets of 18-25 and 21-25.
But Jefferson’s fortunes turned on Thursday with a commanding victory over Tallulah Falls, winning 2-0 with set scores of 25-14 and 25-15.
Next up was East Jackson, who Jefferson defeated handily 2-0, with set scores of 25-11 and 25-15.
It was the second victory of the year for the Lady Dragons over the Lady Eagles, after defeating them previously on Sept. 9 by a 2-0 score.
“We had a great opportunity to play some of our younger players and get some valuable experience for our bench for the upcoming tournament, said coach Michael Paul.
