The Jackson County Board of Commissioners will meet on Monday, March 18, to discuss issues related to the new West Jackson EMS station and finances. The discussion will follow the regular 6 p.m. BOC meeting. The meeting was scheduled at the request of commissioner Chas Hardy to discuss allegations from Crow and others that money tied to a new EMS station had not been handled correctly.
The BOC has been in dispute for several weeks over the matter and over a lawsuit that was filed against the board on the issue.

Running an ambulance service has always been a challenging business. It has become and will continue to be more difficult to manage finances and not be more of a burden to tax payers. I've been in the industry 25+ years and still do not understand why a small county (such as yours) would feel it necessary to run a business when there are many private contractors that would do as well (or better) providing service and possibly at a reduced cost to the citizens. Why would the County open a discount store when Wal-Mart is down the street and wonder why they have problems?
