Barrow-Jackson 4-H robotics team completes robot

The Barrow and Jackson County FIRST Robotics Competition Team met their Feb. 19 deadline for building their robot for the FIRST Robotics Competition, to be held March 14-16.

The theme of this year’s competition is the Ultimate Ascend Game and each team robot must be able to throw Frisbees to score points and climb a 10 feet tall metal-framed pyramid in 30-inch intervals. The students built the robot themselves, with help from adult mentors and volunteers. The team is currently practicing for the competition, taking time to refine the robot and work out any kinks. The Barrow/Jackson team attended a multi-team scrimmage in Alpharetta on Feb. 17.
