County schools not providing housing for new employees says superintendent

Rumors that the Jackson County School System are providing houses for two new administrators are not true, said superintendent John Green.
Green said Wednesday that the school-owned properties are being fixed for storage use and that one of the system's new hires had put some personal items one of the properties pending closure on a house he purchased in Hoschton, but that no school personnel are living or would be living in any school property.
"It's not true," Green said of the rumors.

Glad to hear they are not planning to allow anyone to live at the property at school expense. Maybe it would be more appropriate to rent a storage locker as any other citizen would have to do if they had personal items that require storage.

Still sounds a little fishy. So they are spending taxpayers money to fix up storage for new hires personal belongings. I bet the moving guys are getting wet today. Hopefully the BOE can figure out quickly what kind of leader they have hired and not let him ruin Jackson County School System. At least the men he hires can move to the county instead of being granted an extension and costing the taxpayers money for travel expenses like Green.

Is it still not concerning that they are using school property as a storage unit for personal items? Is this afforded to other staff and teachers? Citizens would have to rent a storage unit. Why is maintenance doing all the extra work if these are just for storage?

I guess there would be no need for either parties' vehicles to be at the two locations during the late hours of the night. There also would be no reason to turn the utilities on to the new "Jackson county BOE self storage buildings" that they have either. Again as "thoughts on" touched on above; is this a common practice to store new county employees personal affects? Finally, I guess there would be no need for the Jackson County BOE maintenance to be at these facilities to upgrade anything either. Since these are just storage buildings.

Then again, I am sure that there are logical reasons for the above actions taking place. Surely the Jackson County Superintendent would not say one thing and mean something else.

Just a bunch of silliness. Rumors are rumors are rumors. Anyway if true what is the cost? Probably zero.

Hope we get top notch #1 schools out of this deal. We need leadership. Good people move into a community that have excellent schools.

You don't even know what's going on behind closed doors. And YES - those houses WERE going to be renovated for the new hires, but was nixed because it was going to end up costing too much. As a tax payer, if this plan had gone through, wonder when we would have found out about it? I know when.... w-a-a-y after the fact. Double-talk can be just a work-around -- no rumor to it.

And #1 schools? Sure ---- the new EJCHS principal is a football coach with NO educator credentials, NO classroom experience, NO teaching degree, and hasn't a clue about school leadership.

I for one am DELIGHTED the new EJCHS has not been indoctrinated into the stagnant education system offered today. Hopefully he can use ideas traditional educators would not have dreamed up due to lack of creativity.

Anyone looked at the Jackson County salaries lately? I'm surprised Green hasn't cut some of the salaries, especially the ones where married couples are both highly paid and one supervises the other.

I don't know about you...but I ready to dump John Green right now!!! With his two coaches appointments and the storage buildings for the coaches deal...We Need A New Leader for Jackson County Schools that looks out for the welfare of students, teachers, and parents instead of his own!! I hope the BOE is getting the message...........

I so agree with you. I don't trust anything that comes out of his mouth. Who in their right mind would hire someone as a principal that doesn't even have a teaching degree. Yes, I've done my homework and this is insane. We just thought Jackson Co. had a bad name...we'll it's worse than ever now. We can thank Dr. Green for that!

A layman's definition of insanity is "Doing the same thing, but expecting a different results". I am aware of a high school English teacher who taught at JCCHS who had a student tell her "ain't no yankee going to teach me nothing about no English." Her reply back was "you are correct, ain't no yankee going to teach you nothin about nothin." and she proceeded to become a guidance counselor. Education has failed Jackson County miserably due to the parents being as dumb as a box of rocks.

Mr. Green should be rewarded for trying something that may work since obviously if the past is a predictor of the future then Jackson County will still be made up of those who do not possess the cognitive stimulus to engage in an intellectual dialogue without attempting to impugn one's character based solely off of ideological differences.

BOE you can not turn a blind eye to what is going on. This as well as several other incidents will come out. There is a storm brewing in the jcss. There are people who know the truth and are not afraid to speak out. It is coming.

1-"required law enforcement background" for safety position: green hired coach friend, stewart.
2- stewart turned down venable house, or boe would have been in housing/rental.

So teachers asked the new football coach, oops I meant the new principal, "how was your first day at work" - he replied "just great, just sat in my office all day"!! WHAT????????
I ask my kids - "so have you met or seen the new principal" - No mam!

What is it about now doing all this mess? We are running people off? We have all kinds of rumors coming out of Gum Springs Elementary. The administration there is pretty vocal about all the underhanded things that are being done. Why can't we simply just make sure the kids get a good education. Deal with what we have. Instead of you all trying to send my soon to be sixth grader to the other side of the county? How are you going to do that and do away with 40 bus drivers? Explain all of that!! Just explain it, don't lie about it, just explain it.

My kids go to Jefferson. We send them there because all you folks in the County system just fuss all the time. Jefferson is the goodest school systim around. We gots all the good peoples teach us. They got all the best educasion from scooled at Jefferson. We also got the mostest Athleets that get scolarships.

I want to inform all JC parents that there is a BOE meeting on Feb 7th at 7pm at KBMS. There is also another one on Feb 11th at EJCHS at 7pm. Please come to at least one if not both. Parents voices need to be heard and not just in comments in the paper. Come out and help us show our disgust with this joke of leadership we now have in JC.

Good luck with voicing your opinion. Green won't allow the parents to speak because he knows he will be slammed. I hope the BOE realizes what a mistake this is and try to get him out. Not only is he making the employees miserable he's making the parents miserable too. I understand he doesn't care about loyalty...he needs to change his views because he may soon realize HIS staff may not be all that loyal to him either.

Yes, I have also been told by several that Dr Green will NOT allow us parents to speak at the meetings. I wish him luck trying to keep us all quiet. I for one, will not stay quiet whether her likes it or not. I fully intend to expose him as much as possible. Yes, the entire teaching staff is miserable because of him. Parents are miserable because of him. Now, he needs to go!

My dad was chairman of the Jackson Co Board of Education for many years. A little advice: If you want to speak at a board meeting you must be on the agenda. To get on the agenda all you have to do is call the board office in advance and asked to be placed on the agenda. Since they follow Robert's Rules of Order they have to recognize you and let you speak.

Look into Dr. Green and his Gwinnett history....

He makes the staff miserable and if you think that does not filter down to the students by being in a classroom with disillusioned and stressed teachers think again....

I have friends who work in GCPS and saw him in action RUN JCSS RUN!!!

All JC parents need to attend the BOE meetings coming up on February 7th at KBMS at 7pm and then again on February 11th at 7pm at EJCHS. If you want to get rid of the problem then your voice needs to be heard. I have been told by several people that Dr Green is also threatening to fire employees that "can't keep their spouses quiet"! So, please come and let your voices be heard! We need all the help we can get to rid ourselves of this stupidity! Yes, this very well will filter down into our children. Clearly he isn't concerned with them!!

Even though it does not seem to be true, the idea of employees using those houses has been around a while. I know for a fact the idea was first entertained when EJCHS first opened its doors. The problem at the time was that they were full of mold. The people they were offered to were going to pay rent. JCSS saw it as an opportunity to make a little money from properties that at the time were going to sit empty. That was years ago, under Shannon Adams. So, everything Dr. Green does is not evil.

I would also like to offer up this advice to the people that want to voice your concerns: Your message will be more likely to be taken seriously if the spokesperson for the group is calm, collected, willing to listen and, has a clear and concise message or questons . Going to a meeting and shouting about rumors will accomplish nothing.

You don't want to to be "thrown under the bus" as they say around here.

There should be a FB page for the overpaid staffers who have not paid their taxes yet drive new luxury cars lol.
