The Jackson County Board of Education made three major hiring decisions Thursday night, including naming a new principal for East Jackson Comprehensive High School. Tim Stowers, the former head football coach at Georgia Southern University and University of Rhode Island, will take the principal’s position starting Feb. 1. A graduate of Auburn University where he played football, Stowers has also worked in sales and is currently the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Central Connecticut State University.
The BOE also named Todd Nickelsen as principal of South Jackson Elementary School starting July 1. Nickelsen is currently the coordinator at the Oconee River Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center.
The board also created the position of coordinator of safety, security and activities for the school system and named Bill Stewart to the position starting Feb. 1.

I have some ocean front property in Arizonia I would like to sell to you! Your pattern of foolishness continues!
a leader doesn't micro manage. a leader delegates and monitors, mentors and guides.
this is what was lacking. if a leader can assess people and is confident enough to allow them to do the job they are hired to do. they can and will succeed.
there won't be anymore "secret" huddles in the bunker, or throwing of hail mary passes on the day of graduation to allow kids to graduate who don't earn it, or fumbling away of good people who cared for the kids. Ball security, effective communication and effective "2 minute drill" practice is something that all organizations need

The good ole boy system is alive and well.
Why do people in Jackson County always get scared when someone not from there gets a position of leadership? Its healthy to bring in new ideas and branch out a little
BOE - Et tu, Brute?
When you bring in a buddy from the outside, who doesn't appear to be qualified for the job, it gives the appearance of a "good ole boy" network. Which I thought was what people were tired of. Is one network being replaced with another from Alabama? I hope not for the sake of the kids at EJCHS.
When you review the resume, the only experience you see is coaching football and some sales work. Were there no other candidates who had actually been a principal or assistant principal at a high school before?
I guess we'll have to wait and see how this plays out. Maybe this will turn out to be a great move and all of us skeptics will be wrong, but initially, this doesn't sound good.
Applicants for the safety director job need to sue for unfair hiring practices. The board has to conduct a fair search and hire with in the job description.
Folks need to be raising hell because what security was in the school system will be gone! This is insane!!!!
