East Jackson Comprehensive High School will be getting a new principal soon. Principal Pat Stueck retired this week and the Jackson County Board of Education approved the move Monday night. Assistant superintendent Rise Hawley will take over at EJCHS as interim principal. The system plans to have a new principal formally named in time for the 2013-2014 school year. Stueck was named principal at EJCHS in 2005, two years before the high school opened in 2007. She has been the only principal at the school. Before that, she was assistant principal at Jackson County Comprehensive High School for 10 years.

So can some one enlighten us parents on what is going on at EJCHS or is this district wide?? Foor goodness sakes, do not put RC in charge. Delt with him on a number of instances, terrible with parents!
I will not speak for Dr. Stueck as to her reasons for retirement. I do know that she and I discussed that possibility as recently as last summer. Among other issues, we talked about some health considerations that were in play. At the time, she expressed concern about maintaining continuity as the school system transitioned to a new administration. From what I understand from her, she has decided it is no longer necessary for her to be here for that purpose. I know with certitude that her decision to retire now had nothing to do with the 3% retirement issue. In her situation, that wouldn't make much difference, if any, anyway.
It is true that Dr. Stueck and her husband have established a fund to help EJCHS students. I don't know the details, but I believe it is a scholarship fund and details will be available later.
Anytime anyone is in a leadership position, some people will be unhappy with them, so I'm sure some people will continue to post negative comments. That can't be helped. For reasonable people who might read this, please be assured that nothing nefarious is in play. We should all be grateful for Dr. Stueck's fine work for the students and our school system. Opening a new school is a a huge challenge, and she met the challenge magnificently.
Dr. Greene is definitely making changes - even had the librarian clean out the library - said "it doesn't look like a college library"
I pray that all changes he makes are beneficial to the students, not taking away teachers to just add to class size next semester.
Thank you Dr. Stueck for your years of service!
As for all of you hiding behind silly screen names, why don't you act like a grownup and state your real names!! Cowards!
Best of luck to Dr. Stueck (:
The the teachers do not get paid enough yet we expect all the education, superior skills, and do not pay what they are worth. Same for police, fire, EMT, public safety.
What a shame.
I for one am not afraid to say publicly that I am proud to have worked for Pat Stueck for several years. She will be sorely missed and not easily replaced.
Referencing your comments about Dr. Stueck wanting 'total control'-- if you had ANY IDEA about or experience with her leadership style you would understand that it anything BUT based on total control. She was is a master at delegation, observing, strategizing, and trouble shooting. She allowed the teachers to make many of the important decisions and brought all parties into the formation of the cultural evolution of East Jackson.

Dr. Stueck was (is) a good leader with what I experienced first hand for seven years to be a unique and very effective and efficient style of 'captaining the ship'. Running a school is like running a small country and she managed the daily grind and political morass with integrity, respect, and a love for the students. I hope Dr. Stueck decides to ply her knowledge, wit, and wisdom in the training of pre-service educators.
Dr. Wyrick had ONE THING ONLY on his mind on a daily basis, the students and their personal and academic well-being and safety. He may be of the old school, but he does what he does well and with the utmost integrity and responsibility. He is the picture of selflessness and motivation concerning the creation of a counseling environment that is warm, welcoming, supportive, effective, and efficient.
As for Mrs. Palmer--hands down one of the most incredible teachers I have yet to have the opportunity and pleasure to see in action in the classroom. With regards to her administrative tenure, she is likewise one of the most efficient, effective, selfless, and focused people I have ever seen execute the duties of Assistant Principal and curriculum leader in a high school.
These three educators are jugglers and they sometimes they are called to juggle chainsaws. They all deserve our respect for the number of successes they have fostered, the lives they have turned around, and the intellectual advancement they have contributed to in Jackson County.
Haters--know of what you speak and/or do not use forums such as this to communicate misinformation and unfounded OPINIONS about the character of another person, especially these three.
