There will be a water service interruption some areas of Jefferson today (Friday) while repairs to the line are being made.
The areas to be impacted include: Water Plant, Clay Drive, Cooley Avenue and College Street from East Minden (the square) to Institute Street.
The interruption is to the existing 14-inch water main which has only a few services off it.
“Not all customers will be affected,” Jeff Killip, public works director said. “Those that are will be notified by water department staff, they will also notify any affected businesses before work commences.”
A “Boil Water” advisory will be in effect for those incurring the service interruption. This advisory will be lifted once the repairs have been made and bacteriological lab tests have been performed. Results from lab may not be returned until Monday.
“We will notify those affected as soon as the results are received,” Killip said.
The work will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will take approximately four-hours to complete.
