Two variance requests that would bring a Dairy Queen restaurant to Jefferson were approved by the Quad Cities Planning Commission Tuesday night. The requests will now go to the Jefferson City Council for consideration at its Oct. 13 meeting.
David Gillespie is asking to reduce the 50 feet of required corridor buffer to 25 feet and for seven additional parking spaces to be allowed. The restaurant would be located on the Hwy. 129 Bypass at Panther Drive.
The Jefferson City Council will hear the requests when it meets at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13, at the civic center. The council will vote on the requests when it meets at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, at the civic center.

The commision must, in order to comply with code, state the reason a variance request is being forwarded to the city council with a recommendation of approval.
