After last week’s impressive victory over Fannin County, the Jefferson Dragons are hosting Oglethorpe County this Friday as the backdrop to the homecoming festivities.
Oglethorpe has a 1-2 overall, 0-2 region record this season, but that doesn’t mean that the Patriots will be a pushover team.
“[Oglethorpe] are a lot better than their record indicates,” said coach Bill Navas. “They are a lot more athletic than any team we have played so far this year.”
Navas also said that Oglethorpe probably does not think they are as good as they are and Friday’s game will be an interesting challenge.
“It will be a challenge on both sides. We have to learn how to handle success. The fact that we are dealing with some better athletes is going to be a challenge as well.”
One factor that might play into the game is the activities that come with homecoming. Navas said that he would try to keep the players from getting distracted.
