A man who was a passenger in a car stopped by a Jackson County deputy on Sunday later died at a Gainesville hospital.
Chad Marshal Burnette, 38, reportedly jumped out of the car while the deputy was checking identification and ran from the area. A deputy chased him on foot and was escorting him back to the patrol car when Burnette collapsed. Medical personnel were called to the scene and transported him to a Gainesville hospital where he later died.
Suspected illegal drugs and drug-related objects were found in the vehicle. Autopsy results are pending.
Burnette was wanted for a probation warrant out of Clarke County.
I love my fellow humans and disagree with their behavior that keeps them from living fulfilling lives.
Have we, as a society, grown so accustomed to being pulled over and searched during our normal travels as citizens that we no longer care about our freedom?
I don't know why this car was pulled over. Maybe the stop was truly justified but most likely it's part of the strategy of the executive branch of our government to keep us all in line. I for one, would like not to be bothered so much by intrusions into my life by an overbearing and many times dangerous government.
This poor fellow is dead. If I were writing his death certificate I would put the reason as died from fright of his own government. It's the system folks. Sometimes innocent people run from the police. How many of you feel comfortable about having a police car behind you?
It would be safer for you if you had a little blue and black striped sticker so they would know not to bother one of their own. It's a sickening good old boy system. America is no longer the land of the free, home of the brave. We are the land of the sheep and home of the afraid.
The government needs me to pay their salaries. (or they'll be coming with guns to get it.) I don't need them. (Except in a constitutional manner for which the people seem to have forgotten.)
If we are not able to make decisions for ourselves, bad and good, then are we really free?
I believe as long as you don't violate the rights of others there is no law that could be broken. Prostitution is another example of a victimless crime. By regulating prostitution instead of making it illegal the women in this profession would be safer and tax dollars could be collected. Same with gambling.
Why are people not warned when they transgress the law? Why is it everytime a person is put in handcuffs, marched off to jail, bail set and the person imprisoned all before a conviction. Why is it possible for employers to find out a arrest record even if they were never convicted? The Founding Fathers would be rolling in their graves.
Oh, and how do you folks like having your body tested for substances before you can get a job? Unbelievable how much freedom we have simply given away as if it's not important.
You need to put aluminumfoil on your head to keep evil government from stealing your thoughts.
The government makes laws and has them enforced to peace, humanity and guides. Without it we would have chaos.
Your right though, you are free to travel anywhere in this great country you wnat to go to, as long as you are within the boundries of the laws that permit you to do so.
Jackson County Deputy thank you for serving and God bless you as you pull over people and risk your life to do your job. As we all know the headlines could have read Deputy lost in the line of duty.
No guilt either man upstairs controls these tings. To the person's family sorry for your loss.
