The election runoffs will be taking place in the coming week and there is a lot of interest in these political races in Jackson County. So far, all the races have been mostly focused on the issues and qualifications of the various candidates.
We ask that while there may be strong opinions and debate on this website, please keep those debates civil. We know supporters of the candidates are often passionate. That's a good thing since it shows people care and are engaged in their community.
But please don't let that passion take on an ugly tone. So far, we have only had to remove a handful of ugly political comments this summer from this website. Let's don't mess up that record in the final days of these campaigns.
Debate, but let's all be respectful of the political process and the candidates themselves.

Shame on Mr. Collins.
Mr. Collins, that is not anything near what Christian values represent. You lost my vote when I did early voting this morning.
I'll pray for you, sir. I honestly will.
That's what makes America great is being able to disagree, not every candidate is perfect, but when references and facts are presented they cannot be ignored! The reason freedom of speech is important is because the right to advocate what they know to be true is made self evident in the things a candidate does!
May God Bless America...I'm Free. Say that one time with me...I'm FREE!!!!! Isn't that a cool word. I like the word free...your free...free as a bird:)
There are rules to be followed on this website, and regardless of what freedoms you may have, this newspaper also has the same freedom to remove unappropriate comments.
Adults are worse than children these days.. instead of screaming I HAD THE TOY FIRST while theyre bashing someone's head in, instead they say, ITS MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT!
If you have voted it is because they let you vote...and it is a free vote. Not a right!
