THE start of a new school year for the Jefferson City School System begins next Thursday, Aug. 2, for students.
Open House/Registration will be held on Tuesday, July 31. The day will begin with a community breakfast served at 7:30 a.m. at the Performing Arts Center of Jefferson High School, followed by a program at 8 a.m.
According to school superintendent John Jackson, an estimated 2,860 students will enter school halls this year, with 750 at Jefferson Elementary School, 655 at Jefferson Academy and Jefferson Middle School and approximately 800 at Jefferson High School, which is about 20 more names and faces than were enrolled last year.
‘BRING YOUR OWN TECHNOLOGY’
The biggest change in programs this year to the Jefferson school district is the addition of allowing students to bring their own technology to school, said superintendent John Jackson.
“The schools are currently being outfitted for that capability as we speak,” he added. “Everything looks like it will be ready to go the first day.”
