Two men were injured in an electrical accident Tuesday at a Georgia Power substation near Jefferson.
The North Jackson, Jefferson Fire and Rescue, and Jackson County EMS responded to 2516 Valentine Industrial Parkway, Jefferson, on a reported electrocution.
Rescue workers found two male s in their early 30s that had come in contact with high voltage electrical equipment while doing contract work on the electrical system.
The first patient was burned on his arms after a ladder reportedly fell into the transformer box. This patient was transported by EMS to Athens Regional Medical Center in stable condition with burns to his arms.
According to officials, the second patient was trapped inside the box until Georgia Power crews could de-energize the electricity and the patient could be removed. This patient was transported by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta with multiply third degrees burns to his upper torso. He was listed as extremely critical on the scene.
No additional injuries were reported.
