Strong winds during a storm caused about 30-35 trees to fall down in areas in Jackson County on Tuesday afternoon, according to public safety director Steve Nichols.
There were no reports of injuries or accidents, but one tree was reported to have fallen on a house on Galilee Church Road in Jefferson, he said.
Trees reported down after storm
Another tree fell down on Interstate 85, near Jefferson, but the roadway is currently open, although traffic is backed up, Nichols said around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Most of the downed trees were reported in the Maysville, Nicholson and Arcade areas, he added. The high winds caused some of the trees to fall on power lines.
Jackson EMC reported on Wednesday afternoon that an estimated 1,500 customers mostly in the Jefferson area were without power.

I was on my way home from Kroger right after the storm and there were trees and branches down everywhere! I live off Jackson Trail. A tree in our yard is down and our neighbors trampoline is down the street in a tree!! Crazy weather!!
