The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that maintenance work scheduled for Tuesday, June 12, on State Route 82 Connector in Jefferson is delayed due to rain overnight. If the weather cooperates, the work will occur Wednesday and Thursday.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this delay has caused,” said DOT district engineer Bayne Smith in a statement. “Our new plan is to close S.R. 82 Connector at 8 a.m. Wednesday, (June) 13th and it will be closed around the clock until the work is completed about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, (June) 14th. The existing drainage pipes under State Route 82 Connector have deteriorated and needs replacing. DOT maintenance crews will close a short section of 82 Connector because we have to remove the asphalt then dig down and remove the damaged pipes, replace them and repave the roadway.”
The signed detour route will be SR 82 Connector to South Apple Valley Road to SR 15 Alternate to Lyle Field Road and back to SR 82 Connector.
