The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to close a small portion of Ga. Hwy. 82 on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 12-13, to replace drainage pipes.
“The existing drainage pipes under State Route 82 Connector have deteriorated and needs replacing,” said DOT district engineer Bayne Smith in a statement. “DOT maintenance crews will close a short section of (Hwy.) 82 Connector because we have to remove the asphalt then dig down and remove the damaged pipes, replace them and repave the roadway. Our plan is to close SR 82 Connector at 8 a.m. Tuesday, (June) 12th, and it will be closed around the clock until the work is completed about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, (June) 13th.”
The signed detour route will be SR 82 Connector to South Apple Valley Road to SR 15 Alternate to Lyfield Road and back to SR 82 Connector.
