Forums to be held June 12, June 19 at Jackson EMC

The candidates in the July 31 election will address the issues at political forums planned in June at Jackson Electric Membership Corporation in Jefferson. Candidates for probate court, county commissioners and sheriff will be featured at a political forum at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12. Candidates for board of education, State Court judge, board of commission chairman and 9th District U.S. Congress will be featured at a political forum at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19.

Finally, we will get to hear from the candidates themselves, instead of everyone else who is running their mouths about something they really don't know about. HOWEVER, they should not let Ramone's wife handle the question cards. Fair for all!!!!!!!!!!

How come everytime I add something that I know about Ramone Gilbert, it gets removed? Let me guess the editor of this website is voting for Ramone Gilbert??

When you make personal allegations about a candidate with no proof and you don't give your name, your comment will be removed. Political comment is one thing; allegations of wrongdoing is something else and requires proof.

And that "something else" might be defamation, which the publisher of this blog actively participates in by posting such comments, even when they're later removed.

The comments auto-post; we take them down if needed. Legally, we are not responsible for what people post here; Congress passed a law to that effect many years ago. But we do try to weed out comments that, in our view, cross the line. We don't have to legally, but we do. If someone doesn't like their comment being removed, they can start their own blog and say whatever they wish.

Wow, talk about short notice on these forums. Hopefully there will be a good crowd, but I do hope another one possibly in Hoschton or Braselton can be held in late June or early July.

I read the print edition of the Jackson Herald this week to see the results of the forum. One of the lesser known candidates actually referenced "managing his home budget" as his experience when managing budgets and administrative issues. Really???

Two other candidates referenced "managing private businesses" as their experience, which is not even close to managing tax-payer dollars or managing a staff the size of the Sheriff's office.

I haven't decided who I am voting for yet, but I would like to see a forum with the candidates who actually have the qualifications and experience to do the job.
