Jackson County resident Max Allen announced Wednesday his candidacy to run for Jackson County Board of Commissioners District 2, the seat currently held by Chas Hardy.
Allen is a longtime resident of Jackson County and married to Fran Hilley Allen. He has managed a family business at the Jackson County Airport since 1988 and is the owner of Dry Pond Investment Company and Aircraft Aviation Services. Dry Pond Investment is a hangar rental company and Aircraft Aviation Services is an aircraft maintenance facility.
Allen is currently a member of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Jackson County Pilots Association and he serves on Jackson County Airport Authority as the vice-chairman.
Allen attended Jackson County High School, Athens Technical College, and Kings Aeronautical School of Aviation and holds a Federal Aviation Administration Inspectors Authorization license. He is also a licensed pilot.
Allen and his family attend Jefferson First Baptist Church.
“I feel that government is a service industry,” he said. “ We need to provide the services that our taxpayers feel are critical in the most cost effective way possible. We need to treat tax dollars as if they were coming out of our own pockets. I have an interest in all of Jackson County. My wife teaches on the west side of the county. I live in the city limits of Jefferson in the Dry Pond Community and I work at the Jackson County Airport.”
