The East Jackson Eagle Cross Country teams had a successful weekend, as the girls placed second in the small schools division at the Northeast Georgia Cross Country meet at Athens Christian on Saturday.
The boys placed fifth out of 19 teams.
For the girls, Sherri Blalock finished second with a 21:34, Hope Boggs ran a 25:12, followed Jessica Harper, 26:41; Alexis Powell, 27:14; and Erika Deshon, 29:07.
Several first-year runners performed well at the meet, according to Coach Bob Roller.
Kassie Mull placed sixth with a 23:15, Skyler Cozzens finished 14th with a 24:20, Dakota Chandler ran a 25:29, Amanda Anderson a 25:44, Courtney Clark a 26:27, Aubrey Cozzens a 28:48, and Brittany Blackwell a 29:09.
For the boys, Kevin Kesler posted a new school record at 18:08, Brandon Banks ran an 18:37, Terry Miller finished with a personal best 18:37, Josh Kesler ran at 19:31, Andy Van Deventer 19:55, Blake Allbright a personal best 20:03, Eric Van Deventer a 20:05, Kyle Wood a 20:58, Chris White a personal best 21:18, Charles Hulett a 23:41 and Zak Venable ran a 24:17.
Several first-year JV runners also competed, including Jon Mead, 22:11; Stuart Robinett, 22:18; Edward Stone, 22:23; Josh Carney, 22:38; Adrian Woodruff, 24:20; John Kesler, 24:24; Kevin Parker, 25:25; Conner Koslosky, 25:34; Kent Edwards, 26:07; Luke Derochers, 26:14; Joseph Cook, 26:39; and Ryan Degonia, 27:14.
Next up for the Eagles is an open meet at home on Tuesday. The middle school team is scheduled to host the East Jackson Fall Run Away on Saturday, with over 300 runners expected to take part.
