A Hoschton resident was taken to a hospital after having chest pains following a fire at their home, according to Jackson County Emergency Services.
Around 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, firefighters responded to a Skelton Road residence, where they saw smoke showing from the estimated 1,800 square-foot house. The resident was home at the time of the fire.
The fire was quickly extinguished and was contained to the room of origin, according to Steve Nichols, public safety director.
The homeowner then development chest pains and was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, to be checked by hospital staff. There were no other injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Jackson Trail Fire Department. The North Jackson and Jackson County Correctional Institute fire departments also responded to the fire.
