IT’S OFFICIAL. Memorial Stadium will have a long-awaited new concession stand-restroom facility in time for the first Jefferson home football game Sept. 7.
After months of consideration, the Jefferson Board of Education (BOE) approved a $446,569 expenditure to replace the near 50-year-old concession stand and restrooms that serve Memorial Stadium crowds.
Not only do the current concession stand and restrooms serve Dragon football crowds, they also serve thousands of spectators annually for the all-classification Georgia Olympics.
Superintendent John Jackson estimates that the existing concession stands and restroom were built when the stadium was constructed back in the 1960s. Those facilities will be razed immediately following Jefferson High School graduation in May.
