Most Jackson County students continued to show some improvement in Math on the state’s End of Course Testing last fall.
According to EOCT results released this week from Jackson County’s four high schools, fewer students failed Math 1 and Math 2 during the fall semester than failed last spring or in the fall of 2010.
Jefferson High School had the lowest failure rate in Math 1 last fall at 14 percent while Jackson County Comprehensive High School had the lowest failure rate in Math 2 at 17 percent.
Although East Jackson Comprehensive High School improved in its math testing, it had the county’s highest failure rates at 28 percent for Math 1 and 33 percent for Math 2. The state failure rate for Math 2 was 32 percent last fall.
