New JHS restrooms, concession stand ready for football?
A LONG-awaited new restroom and concession stand at Memorial Stadium could be ready in time for football season.
The Jefferson School System has received bids for the project and hopes to present them to the board of education (BOE) at next month’s meeting.
If approved, construction would begin a week after Jefferson High School graduation and finish prior to Jefferson’s Sept. 7 home opener against crosstown rival Jackson County.
The only group interrupted during the summer construction would be the Jefferson Recreation Department swimming team that uses the pool adjacent to the stadium.
A new concession stand and restroom would not only serve football crowds but also those for track. The all-classification state track meet draws thousands to Jefferson annually.

The only group interupted by this construction is the Jefferson Recreation Swim Team??? Have you forgotten the 100+ kids daily at the summer camp program at the rec? Or the 80+ kids in the Jefferson City School Summer Plus program? Of the other numerous day care/boy and girls club that frequents the city pool. Once again, the school system things ONLY about themselves. This project was supposed to begin as soon as the Rec Departments Football season was over and be completed prior to JHS track season. Their lack of planning properly is costing the City thousands of dollars in revenue- Guess what now?? City Tax payers will suffer for loss of revenue. Thanks Jefferson City Schools.

one of the very few things that I agree with the spending. those facilities were crappy when originally built and are in desparate need of replacement. hope they plan to tear the whole structure down and start over. also need to improve the facilities on the visitor side of the stadium

So Jackie, You're all for continuing to have and use decrepit facilities? A few months of inconvenience versus years of better facilities?! Been to a football game on Friday night and had to use the ladies restroom? We use the pool all summer, I'm all for updating the VERY OLD facilities!! Things don't always happen in a timely matter, but they happen none the less. It's about time the stadium gets an update. I'm thinking the revenue on every Friday night home game for football out weighs the revenue from all the programs you've mentioned. It is what it is, at least something is being done!

Jennifer- I never said the facilities didn't need updating- I agree THEY ARE HORRIBLE> My point was this work was supposed to BEGIN and BE COMPLETED in between season- when NO ONE is using the facility. Read the post before you jump on someone.
