Margaret Lurline Duck Tanner, 92, died February 8, 2012 following a lengthy illness. Born in Braselton, Jackson County, on March 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Lester Gordon Duck and Emma Mae Cruce Duck. She was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church in Braselton where for many years she faithfully served as a youth Sunday school teacher and president of the Women's Missionary Union.
Mrs. Tanner graduated from Braselton High School and was a devoted wife and Mother. She was skilled in gardening, raising chickens and cattle and in all domestic arts. She enjoyed her family, friends and especially her neighbors.
Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Paul Tanner; twin brothers, Brannon and Branson Duck; brother, Howard Duck; sister, Ruby Dean Duck Waters; and son-in-law, Dr. Jack Wall.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Tom McGee; grandchildren, Greg and Susie Wall, Sturgis, Miss., Eric and Amber Wall, Hoschton, and Emma and Scott Chambers, Braselton; great-grandchildren, Clint and Colin Wall, Catherine and Caroline Chambers, and Preston, Jack and William Wall; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Branson Duck, and Mrs. Howard Duck; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday February 10, in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville, with Mr. Johnny Parker and the Rev. Don Leaptrott officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Braselton. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home, Thursday, February 9, from 5 to 8 p.m.
