There has recently been a confirmed case of rabies in a raccoon in Jackson County. A raccoon found in the Lebanon Church Road area of Jackson County tested positive for rabies. Two dogs came in contact with the raccoon and are being quarantined.
Residents in the areas are advised to take precautions:
•Be sure that pets (including dogs, cats and ferrets) are current on Rabies vaccinations.
•Avoid wild animals exhibiting unusual behavior such as aggression, lack of fear of people, or appearing at odd times.
•Report any incidence of bites from any animal to your local health department or animal control.
