Benton Elementary School is no longer experiencing occasional water outages after repairs were completed in relation to a Nicholson water line, according to principal Pam Shields.
The issued started sometime in December, when a filter in a Nicholson water line broke and debris from that incident began to affect the school on Friday, Jan. 20, Shields said.
While maintenance crews made repairs on Friday and the following Monday, Jan. 23, the water to the school had to be turned off at times — including those to toilets and water fountains, she said.
The water outages didn’t affect instruction time or the school’s cafeteria, which served lunch to the members of the Jackson County Board of Education during a stop on Monday at BES for their annual tour of schools, Shields said.
The outages affected the school on Friday and Monday, and repair crews had to return on Tuesday to resolve some residual issues, she said on Thursday. Water flow at BES is now back to normal.
