Margaret Deadwyler won’t seek re-election

Jackson County probate judge Margaret Deadwyler has announced that she is not seeking re-election.

Deadwyler offers thanks to the “citizens of this county for your support and for hiring me for five terms in office.” Her term will end with 20 years as probate judge and eight years of service as clerk of Probate Court.

Judge Deadwyler provided service and help to Jackson County residents throughout her career. While I agree we need to get rid of a host of career politicians that make the laws, some obviously have no clue as to the responsibility of the Probate Judge's office. Thank you Judge Deadwyler for all those you have helped in their time of need.

You sound like someone who has no idea what a probate judge does, and has never had to go to Judge Deadwyler's office after a loved one has died to have her staff help you out. Her office runs smoothly, and she is compassionate and reasonable.

I am a lifelong resident of Jackson County. I remember when the Probate Judge was called the "ordinary". J. T. Wilkes was an excellent probate judge, (he was also born and raised here), and trained Margaret well to do the job which she was elected FIVE time to perform. FIVE times. That tells me that there are more people in Jackson County who have common sense than ones who just sit around complaining. And I bet they are "transplants". They probably haven't had to go to the Probate Judge's office and get a death certificate or probate a will and seen Margaret and her staff at work. Boo to you. Personally I will miss her. Any time I need something I know that I can call her, Jennifer or Melinda and they will get the job done. I hope the next Probate Judge will be just like her. So there..

With Stan and Margaret retiring Jackson County's change is nearly complete. Growing up in the county before all the growth you knew almost everyone with their good qualities and their shortcomings. Every election those running would campaign in the county. Now you hardly ever see anyone person to person. Back in the day you could go to Bruce's anf yalk to the mayor or talk to C Spence the sheriff. Now with most people working out of the county you don't know your neighbors or who is running.

Margaret, is not only my cousin, but she is a wonderful lady. She has been a rock for this county and she will surely be missed! Margaret
what ever you do you will do with the same flair you have instilled in the Probate Judges Office!

Now dug you didnt have to go tellin the whole county our mamas secret...None of that is true that lady was a saint and just cuz her wic vouchers didnt come inthe mail on time and she had to do some"undesirable things" at the wal mart in the 80's...But i think we can all agree that duznt make you bad

I would like to officially retract(at my bros request) my earlier comments in regards to our dear mother who was locked up n the wal mart parking lot in the 80's...After that incident she got her degree from East Jackson Beauty and Weave School and never looked back...She raised 8 kids from 11 different fathers on a streetwalkers salary until she finally was able to fufill her dream and opened her very own weave shop working out of this dude she met at the bars van...But just like that it was all takin away when her hiv overtook her old feeble body...I LUV U MAMA DOO WOP

well yall two have done it now ive dun called grandaddy and told him that yall two dun told everyone on the enterweb about your mama getin locked up in the wal mart parking lot in the 80's for streetwalking... i want too set the record straight for the net...YES mama doo wop did get locked up in the 80's for streetwalkin but it didnt have nothin to do with her wic vouchers...She had been listening to that song fancy by reba one too many times and she kept hearin her say she got her a georgia mansion and a new york town house flat and she aint looked back...Mama Doowop just wanted too get you two ungrateful kids a better house and streetwalkin in the wal mart parking lot is the only way she knew how
