County man killed in small plane crash

A small plane crashed at around 11:45 a.m. Sunday morning at the Jackson County Airport, killing David Rushlow, 50, of Jackson County.

The crash happened in the grassy median between the airport's two runways, about 300 yards from the north end of the runways.

Officials said the plane was a single engine "hobby" type aircraft and was doing test landings and takeoffs when the crash happened. A witness said the plane sputtered and then crashed and burst into flames.

The plane was housed at the Jackson County Airport.

Sad to hear this. I passed by the airport today around 12:00 noon and saw all of the emergency vehicles and knew it was not good.

I had the pleasure of working with David a few years ago. David was a standup guy with a very strong work ethic whom I learned a lot from.

This is very sad to hear. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Dave was well loved by all who knew him. He was a very kind and generous person, was an excellent pilot, and will be sorely missed by my family and his many friends.

Dave was one of the best...generous, a great pilot, and a good friend. I will miss him...19A won't be the same without him.

David was a friend to all and gave without thinking.
He was my friend and will be missed. Praying for his family.
Few people in life are like David a gift to us. The wings that he has now will not fail him for they are from God.

What a blessing he was to all. Dave affected so many lives around him, even people he had never met. He was infectious with his giving and love. I have heard numerous stories of his generosity when he heard of a family or person in need. What a pleasure and blessing to be called his friend. I ask all to be in constant reminder of the person Dave would have us to be in his likeness. God sent Jesus to this world so we could be in his likeness. Jesus sent Dave into our life to show how man can be in his likeness. Thank you Lord for sharing this man in my life. Love and prayers to all the family. LJ

Randy and I have only been around 19A for a couple of years. Dave was one of the first persons we met. One of the first things he told us was, "There are snacks and cold drinks if we would like some and please help yourself". Dave always kept snacks and drinks at the airport for everyone and would not take any money or never ask for anything in return. He was always a very kind and generous man. We thank God for allowing Dave to be a friend of ours and being able to have such wonderful memories to hold onto. Even thou we only knew Dave for a couple of years; he touched our hearts as he did so many others. Our time with him was always so rewarding. Dave was full of life and loved Airplanes. He was such a great mentor for us and we will miss him so much. We should never question God on why he took him from us so soon. We should always know that God always takes the good ones when he needs someone special. Dave will be missed by all. 19A will not be the same and will always have a void that can not be filled. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all of Dave's friends.
